Technology Updates

Let me begin with a huge thank you to everyone who donated to the matching grant to update our technology. I am pleased to note we raised more than our goal and have replaced the old computers with new. We will soon begin updating our Intellectual Property (copyright) knowledge for next year’s grant.

Our intern, Ray Hughes, has been busy scanning Vasa Stars and uploading them to the Upper Mississippi Digital Image Archive. Back issues from 1913 to 1976 are now available online. He should finish that project this summer and we will have him begin scanning GL Convention minutes and materials next. Fortunately, his cat allergy has been managed with medication and routine cleaning of the residence and office.

Our long-term project of converting the 1240 Setterdahl Oral Histories to CD has finished. This eliminates our concerns that the oral histories will become unavailable due to outdated technologies or the natural degradation of cassettes.
